Our Members

The Ontario Caregiver Coalition is open to all who support our mission of giving a voice to caregivers and creating an Ontario where caregivers feel valued, respected and supported.

While our caregiver members and organization partners are the heart of our grassroots advocacy, we welcome friends who, like us, want to build a better future for caregivers.

If you're interested in joining, please read our brief overview of our types of members below:

Caregiver Members

What makes the OCC unique is that the majority of our membership is composed of current and former unpaid caregivers. By becoming a caregiver member, you'll have the opportunity to elevate caregiver voices just like yours.

Eligibility

  • Be a current or former caregiver.

  • Be ready to commit a small amount of your time, through participating in our quarterly meetings, volunteering and/or joining one of our committees.

We understand how common time constraints are for unpaid caregivers. We do not ask for large time commitments from our members, and we are flexible with the many different schedules of our members.

Caring for your loved one and taking self care time should always come first!

Organization Members

The OCC works with other organizations that share our vision and mission! We work with our members as a partner. Organization members are often health charities, service providers, researchers, advocacy organisations and others.

We can help your organisation find candidates for studies, spread their latest news on our social media channels and give them a spotlight to speak about their organization's work at our quarterly meetings.

Eligibility

  • Be an organization or a member of an organization that shares in our vision and mission.

  • Be willing to commit yearly membership dues to the OCC.

    • While we typically invoice based on what we think your organisation can afford, the ultimate size of this donation is up to you!

  • Be ready to commit a small amount of your time, through participating in our quarterly meetings, volunteering and/or joining one of our committees.

The OCC can be an incredible resource for organizations doing work related to unpaid caregiving because of our large membership of caregivers.

Friends of the OCC

While the OCC is a grassroots organization composed mostly of current and former unpaid caregivers, we welcome all who support our vision and mission. Our friends have played large roles in our past projects!

Eligibility

  • Believe in our vision and mission for caregivers in Ontario.

  • Be ready to commit a small amount of your time, through participating in our quarterly meetings, volunteering and/or joining one of our committees.

You don't need to be a caregiver to recognise that there needs to be a change in how caregivers are supported in our province. If you, like us, are passionate about working toward that change, then we are happy to have you join our coalition!

Friends are not able to participate in decisions about the operation of the OCC.

Note: Former caregivers are still eligible to join as caregiver members!
